IRVONA — James G. Cox, 79, of Irvona, died Saturday, April 6, 2019 at his residence.
He was born June 30, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Joseph Ralph Cox and Mary Veronica (Murray) Cox.
He graduated from Regis High School, Brooklyn, NY, attended Fordham University for three years and St. Andrews on the Hudson.
He married Georgie Frailey on April 1, 1967 and was a Air Force veteran.
He worked as a Employment Counselor for PA State Employment Service.
Surviving are his wife, Georgie (Frailey) Cox; sons, Matthew P. (Kristie) Cox of Irvona, Philip G. (Jessica) Cox of Altoona; daughter, Eleanor (Bob Jr. Lalli); brother, Larry (Maria) Cox; sisters, Lorene, Marjorie and Virginia; and grandchildren, Tucker Lalli, Sayge Lalli and Sienna Lalli.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Ralph Cox; mother, Mary Veronica (Murray) Cox; son, Michael J. Cox; brother, Robert Cox; in-laws, Huber and Marian Frailey.
Friends will be received Friday, April 12, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home, Inc., Irvona.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home, Inc. with the Rev. Lyle Westover officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, La Jose.
