IRVONA - Bernard D. Whetstone, "Flintstone", 81, of Irvona, died Dec. 23 at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.
He was born March 22, 1939, in Woodbury, son of Lester Whetstone and Fannie Hoover Whetstone.
He was a member of Glendale Sportsmen Club and Irvona Vol. Fire Co.
He worked as a truck driver and mechanic for W.G. McClellan Trucking.
He started driving race cars age the age of 13 and retired when he turned 70 in 2010. He loved to fish and hunt.
Surviving are sons and daughter-in-laws, Marc and Karen Whetstone of Sandy Ridge, Tim and Candace Whetstone of Irvona, and Terry and Michelle Whetstone of Irvona; sister, Freda Diehl of Bedford; grandsons Justin and Megan Queen, Marc Jr. and Angel Whetstone, Joshua Whetstone, Timothy Whestone; granddaughter, Samantha Queen, Kyresten and John Fowler; and great-grandchildren Blake, Clark, Lilly and Ezra.
He was proceeded in death by father, Lester Whestone; mother, Fannie Hoover; wife, Dorothy Benz; daughter, Robin Queen; brother, Melvin Whestone, Galen (DOC); sisters Mildred, Romaine, Ruth and Betty Whetstone.
Due to the spike in COVID-19 cases, all are to wear mask and maintain safe distance from others.
Friends will be received Sunday, Dec. 27, 2-5 p.m. at the Lloyd Dimmick Funeral Home Inc., Irvona.
Services will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at Lloyd Dimmick Funeral Home Inc., Irvona, with Pastor Deak Irvine officiating.
Internment will be at the Fairview Cemetery, LaJose.
