Donald Phillips Obituary

IRVONA - Donald L. Phillips, 85, of Irvona died Aug. 11, 2021 in Penn Highlands, DuBois.

He was born Dec. 13, 1935 in Osceola Mills, son of George Phillips and Margaret Pelton Phillips.

While living in Buffalo, N.Y., Don was head coach of the Westside Little League Football Team, the Longhorns, and President of the Great Lakes Rod and Gun Club. He served as Commander of Pearl Harbor Garrison 12-7 Army and Navy Union.

Don served his country in the U.S. Army as an Infantry PFC E3 Ranger Squad during the Korean Conflict.

He worked as a laborer for General Motors, Buffalo Plant.

Surviving are his wife, Stella Phillips; sisters, Betty Switello of Chester Hill, Leona Donelisky of South Buffalo; son, Thomas M. Phillips of Beccaria; daughter, Jacqueline M. Morrison of Coalport; granddaughter, Breanne Morrison; great-granddaughters, Isabella Nagel and Ava Hughes of Beccaria; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers George Phillips, Merel Walker and Sylvester "BUD" Walker; and sisters, Bert Tokarchik, Mickey Farley and Viola Eckert.

Arrangements are by the LLoyd-Dimmick Funeral Home, Inc. Irvona.

Private graveside services will be held Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021 at St. Basil Cemetery.

Don's wishes were to be cremated with no viewing or public services.
