Obituary
John A. Harris, 77, of Irvona passed away at UPMC Altoona on Aug. 7, 2023.
He was born Oct. 16, 1945 in Decatur Township, the son of Edward and Mildred Rickner Harris.
After his parents passed away, he was raised by his foster parents, George and Viola Hunter.
He is survived by daughters, Paula Harris and companion Jesse Morgan of Altoona, and Sharon Martell of Curwensville; grandchildren, Kayla and Justin Warner, Kiersten Wallace, Mitchell Stiles; five great-grandchildren and one on the way. Also survived by brothers, Jim (Eileen) and Chuck (Kate); his companion, Sue Rowles; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; foster parents; sister, Ethel; brothers George, Ed, Bob, Francis; foster sister, Thelma; foster brothers, Paul Hunter and Tom Bailey; daughter, Susan Harris and son-in-law Marlin Martell.
He was employed at Benjamin Coal as a licensed blaster, Hodge Foundry and several trucking companies.
He was a graduate of "Patton" Masonic School.
The family received friends on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home Inc., Rose Street, Irvona.
A funeral service was held at 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
