Obituary

John Smeal, 81, of Madera, died July 21, 2022 at his residence.
 
He was born March 12, 1941 in Irvona, son of Leroy Jessie Smeal and Nellie G. Smith.
 
He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Altoona Scottish Rite and Jaffa Shrine.
 
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the state Department of Transportation.
 
He enjoyed hunting and car racing.
 
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, John L. ( Michele) Smeal of Big Run; brothers, Edward Smeal of Texas, and Daniel Smeal of Madera; grandsons, Jonathan (April) Smeal of Altoona, Jeremy (Madison) Smeal of Connecticut, and Brandon Smeal of Big Run; and many nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by father, Leroy Jessie Smeal; mother, Nellie G. Smith Smeal; brothers, Jessie Leroy Smeal, Robert Smeal, Ernest Smeal, and Richard Smeal; and sister, Shirley Leitzel.
 
Friends will be received Saturday, July 23, 2022, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home, Inc., Irvona, PA.
 
Services will be held at Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home Inc., Saturday at 7 p.m. with Pastor Robert Queen officiating.
 
Interment will follow at a later date.
