Luigi A. Ballarotto, 94, of LaJose, died at the Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville, on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1931 in Berwinsdale, the son of Vincent and Lucy (Trape) Ballarotto.
In his early years, he worked in the timber business doing mostly logging and sawmill work.
He served in Korea from 1952 to 1954 and upon his return, he continued in the logging business until his father retired in 1965.
At that time, he went to work at Benjamin Coal Co. as a truck driver until 1972, when he went to work for Harvey Haley again as a truck driver until his retirement in 1991.
He had a great interest in old antique cars and had several of his own.
He is survived by his brothers and sister; Alexander of Smoke Run, Rudolph of Berwinsdale, Frank (Linda) of LaJose, and Caroline (Linda) Miller of Vienna, Va. and Palm Bay, Fla., as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Vincent W Ballarotto; sister in-law, Patricia Ballarotto; and brother-in-law, Martin Miller.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home, 91 Rose Street, Irvona.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Queen officiating
Burial is at Fairview Cemetery, LaJose.
