Mabel Joan Lightner, 87, of Coalport died July 14, 2024 at Haida Healthcare in Hastings.
Se was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Jan. 14, 1937, daughter of George E. Cookson and Rose M. (McCabe) Wong. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Done W. Wong.
She married Richard (Dick) Lightner who preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 2008.
She is survived by children, Diana Hagens of Westover, Brian (Deana) Lightner of Coalport, Blake (Cathy) Lightner of Curwensville, and Mark (Diane) Lightner of Billerica, Mass., a brother, William Cookson of Bradenton, Fla.; ten grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; three great great grand children; a special niece, Michele Spaid of LaJose; and several other nieces and nephews who will all sadly miss her .
She was a member of the Rock of Freedom Church, Coalport. She worked for home health as an aide.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and step-father; husband; and brothers, James O. Cookson, George Cookson, and Don E. Wong; sister, Agnes Hanlan; son-in-law Gene Hagens; and granddaughter Penny Dotts.
Her joy in life was watching and caring for her grandchildren and great and great great grandchildren who called her COO COO Grammy and Bumba and Mia.
Family will receive family and friends on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home Inc., Rose Street, Irvona.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. with Pastor Robert Queen officiating.
Burial will be at Utahville Cemetery.
