PHILADELPHIA - Michael Alexander Lucas passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia. He was 63.
Mr. Lucas started his career as mechanic at his father's garage. He then received his Master's Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and worked as a Technical School Director for the North Montco Technical Career Center, until his retirement in 2017.
Michael was instrumental in technical education throughout Pennsylvania for many years. Many educators owe him for the knowledge and encouragement to further their careers that he shared with them.
Mike was a member of St. Michael Orthodox Church in Irvona, where he enjoyed helping with church dinners and chicken bbq's. He loved to cook and talk about recipes with others who shared the same passion. Mike and his brother Bill spent many years perfecting and making kielbasa, which he would share with good friends at the holidays. Mike always put his family first and loved spending time with them.
Mike was born on Aug. 17, 1957 in Westover, spent many years in Lancaster and was currently living in Bridgeport. He was a son of the late William and Ann (Varunok) Lucas. Surviving is his loving family, including his wife, Nicole H. (Hindo) Lucas; sons Michael Lucas and his wife, Katrina; step-son, Bret Valentino; two grandchildren, Tessa and Trenton; two brothers, Tony Lucas and his wife, Cynthia and Bill Lucas, plus many nieces and nephews that he loved as his own children.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael's memory to North Montco Technical Career Center, Skills USA Student Organization, 1265 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA 29466.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 12 at the Lloyd Dimmick Funeral Home, Irvona with Panikhida Service at 8 p.m.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13 at St. Michael Orthodox Church, Irvona, with Fr. David Lewis officiating. Interment will be the church cemetery.
